Can Go BackWarner

. . . . My first homecoming at Warner University - Lake Wales, Florida

February of 2013 marked my return to my Alma-Mater: Warner Southern College. Well, since then, it has become a full-fledged University: Warner University.
Warner University is located in Lake Wales, Florida which is near Winter Haven and South West of Disney World.
The University is across from the original College and has vastly improved from the overgrown swamp-forest that it was when I was there.

In spite of these events, my stay at Warner Southern was quite pleasant.  I was an older student and kind of set in my ways.  The college atmosphere was so friendly and pleasant that If I had problems or concerns, I went directly to the president. We also had close relationships with the professors.  This closeness made my stay there even more pleasant
One story that I remember was when Dr. Wade Jakeway decided to open a “Yummy Freeze” ice cream place.
Yummy Freeze was very welcome. In those days, there weren’t many places to hang out.  Although it is now closed, Brother Jakeway still remains, although he is now retired.
There were a few professors remaining from my day and I enjoyed seeing them again and sharing stories of our lives since 1979  (my attendance was from 1976 to 1979).
I’ve heard it said “you can’t go back”.  This may be true for the most part. We are older; things have changed and memories may be clouded.  But, I believe these are the reasons you can go back and the reasons why returning was just as pleasant as being there in the first place.
I could lengthen this article by naming names and telling stories, but I would rather share photos of the Homecoming of 2013.  Rather than showing names, I hope it will be more pleasant to look at photos and say “I remember that” or “they haven’t changed a bit”.
To begin with, let us share this interview with Dr. Steven Darr. Dr. Darr was one of the music professors.  He is still involved with music but is also one of the administrators of the current Warner University.  Here is Dr. Darr’s interview .    Dr. Darr’s photo is below
At this point I will offer photos from past and present.  Hope you enjoy.
