Something happened to me at work this past week. My department head and store manager were showing me somethings in our cooler and pointing out what needed fixed. We (and I) as a department had gotten lazy about putting product away correctly and as a result we were over ordered on somethings. We also had outdated product because of improper rotation. The first thoughts that popped into my head was to say well this person was supposed to do this and that person was supposed to do that and that is why we look the way we do now. But in the position I hold it’s my responsibility to make sure that this is all done correctly in the first place and if it’s not, to make sure that it gets fixed as soon as possible. When I got ready to make up an excuse or blame someone else God reminded me of the Pharisees and the woman caught in adultery.
Instead of making excuses I listened to what my superiors had to say(Boy that was hard to do). In the end I learned a few things and also saw that they were trying to help me become better instead of tear me down. Just like Jesus doesn’t want us to make excuses for what we’ve done and blame someone else, He wants us to learn from our mistakes to become better and be able to have a closer relationship with Him and God. |
