Tips for The Photographer: When To Use A Tripod?

   Since having my stroke, I can say that using my tripod has been prominent on my agenda. 
   A tripod allows you to frame and steady your shots.  With the accentuation on steady.
   Normally I would say that the emphasis would be on steady.  Understanding that you would use a tripod for anything you can’t hold steady without the tripod.  None-the-less, the tripod is a necesary piece of equipment for the outdoor photographer.
   The outdoor Photographer will find the tripod useful in time-lapse Photography and the steadiness needed therein.
   When in doubt, use the tripod.

   There is no pre-requisite for when or how to use a tripod.  It is a tool.  You use when needed.  A tripod will increase the quality of any photo but at the same time will decrease the speed due to set-up time.

   I find the tripod extremely useful in my present condition.  Useful isn’t the word for it, my tripod is necessary.     I like you, am in the learning stage. I never had to use a tripod except when using a telephoto lens and am realizing it’s benefits. 

   Now that you know what a tripod is you will want to know what to get.    A Carbon-Fiber Tripod is only necessary due to less weight.  It offers no other benefits and is a tool you’ll want only if you can afford it.  Otherwise, it offers no addition.

   Your only need is a tripod large enough to support the largest camera  and the  heaviest lens you own.  The head is a matter of preference and an item we can get into later.  You might find it necessary to own more than one head.  We will recommend starting with a classic ball-head.  A ball-head gives the most versatility.    Now that you have your tripod and head, all that’s left is to;
