I first met Jonathan Wilburn in 1998 when he was with Gold City.  Jonathan was the lead for Gold City from 1996 to 2008.

I first met Jordan at the National Quartet Convention in 2011.  They had recently began singing together as Wilburn & Wilburn.

Wilburn & Wilburn may be the first, or at least one of the few Father & Son gospel groups.

Most recently, Wilburn & Wilburn appeared at an event in Ohio that has been recurring for the last 43 years. The Monroe Men’s Club in Central Ohio have been promoting concerts that include an average of six top-notch groups. Wilburn & Wilburn is one of those groups.

In my interview with Jonathan, I mentioned that I felt his style had changed some.  Maybe there is change, but then, change is a necessary part of progress.

Wilburn & Wilburn have 2 CD projects out now. The first one being “Family Ties”. A song from Family Ties that is done quite well is “Jesus Will” .

Another song from this CD is “Mama” . Obviously, Mama is a hit.  Everyone loves their mama and can identify with the emotions of the song.
I asked Jonathan if there were problems being a duet when the majority of Southern Gospel groups are Trio or Quartet.  He responded by saying: “Thank God everyone doesn’t prefer a quartet”.  Amen!
I agree, it is refreshing to see the changes I have recently seen in Southern Gospel Music.  The sound is becoming fresher, modern and exciting.  This is what Gospel music should be: EXCITING”.

Wilburn & Wilburn is just that, exciting.  You will find a refreshing blend of the old and the new of Gospel music.  You will be blessed by attending their concert and supporting their ministry.
You can hear all of my interview with Jonathan here .  We’ll see them again at the NQC and I’m sure there will be some new, exciting testimony in the ministry of Wilburn & Wilburn.  See their web-site www.wilburn2.com
