Inspiration From Behind The Lens Concluded

The candy cane is bent into a shepherd’s crook. This reminds us that the Shepherds were the first to hear of Jesus’ birth.

Turn it upside down and you have a J. The first letter in Jesus name.

The white stripe represents the purity of Christ’s virgin birth.

The big red stripe represents the blood that was spilled on the cross for all of us.

The three little red stripes represent the Holy Trinity.

The candy is hard like a rock. Jesus is the rock and foundation of the church.

The mint flavor is a member of the mint family hyssop. Hyssop in the old testament  was used for purification and sacrifice and symbolizes the purity of Jesus and the sacrifice He made.

This Christmas season I hope that whenever you see a candy cane, whether it is a traditional red and white or one of the different flavored canes, remember the reason we celebrate and the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.
